Day 1 : M'hamid - Erg Chigaga - Desert Candles Camp
Day 1 takes you deep into the Moroccan desert to our standard camp at the foot of the magnificent Erg Chigaga dunes, offering a true taste of nomadic life.
M’hamid to Erg Chigaga Desert Camp:
Your authentic desert adventure begins at our office in M’hamid El Ghizlane.
- Departure Times: Choose your start at 11:00 or 14:00.
- The Off-Road Drive: Our experienced driver will take you off-road in a reliable 4WD car on an approximately 65 km journey across the wild desert.
- Desert Landscapes: Experience the raw beauty of the Sahara, passing through various features like towering erg (sand dunes), sweeping reg (stone desert), rocky hamada (rock plateau), and vital oases.
Arrival and Dune Exploration
Upon arrival at the Desert Candles Camp, located right by the highest sand dunes in Erg Chigaga, you’ll be welcomed in the traditional way:
- Nomadic Welcome: Settle in with traditional nomad tea and small snacks.
- Your Accommodation: Check into your private nomad tent. These tents offer an authentic base for your desert stay. Each tent has comfortable beds, bed linen, warm blankets, wall-to-wall carpet and lighting inside and outside.
- Dune Activities: Before sunset, embark on a camel ride through the dunes and try the fun of sandboarding.
- Sunset View: Climb the highest sand dune to witness an amazing sunset, capturing the stunning vastness of the Sahara.
New Year’s Eve: A Traditional Celebration
Spend the last evening of 2025 welcoming 2026 under the clear desert sky in a truly traditional style.
- Feast Meal: A delicious and satisfying feast is served in the restaurant building.
- Live Culture: We gather around the crackling bonfire in the camp lounge area. A local folklore group provides live music and dancing, and our nomads play the traditional drums and sing ancient songs. Everyone is encouraged to join the celebration.
- The Magic: Spend your New Year’s Eve under the billions of stars—a perfectly serene and unforgettable welcome to the new year.
- Rest: Sleep soundly in your comfortable nomad tent.

Day 2 and/or 3: Erg Chigaga - M'hamid (your departure)
Whether you choose the quick return or an extended stay, your final hours in the Erg Chigaga desert offer a peaceful transition back to civilization.
Option 1: The 2-Day Sahara Tour (Day 2: Erg Chigaga – M’hamid)
For guests on our 2 Days/1 Night New Year’s desert trip, your adventure concludes on the morning of Day 2.
- Sunrise Moment: Choose to wake early for a spectacular Sahara sunrise over the dunes, or simply enjoy a relaxing lie-in.
- Final Meal: Enjoy a good breakfast served in the camp.
- Departure: Our 4WD driver will be there to begin the return journey.
- Arrival in M’hamid: You will be back in M’hamid El Ghizlane around 11:00, where your desert tour ends.
Option 2: The Extended 3-Day Sahara Experience (Day 2 & 3)
For those who booked our 3 Days/2 Nights tour, Day 2 is dedicated to fully immersing yourself in the desert’s unique tranquility.
Day 2: Erg Chigaga (Full Day of Desert Immersion)
- Desert Silence: Take the entire day to experience the profound desert silence and vastness of Erg Chigaga.
- Relaxation & Activities: Relax comfortably in the camp, take a quiet walk among the sand dunes, try more sandboarding.
- Optional: We can arrange an extra camel ride by sunset time (additional cost may apply).
- Overnight: Enjoy a second evening under the incredible stars before retiring to your nomad tent.
Day 3: Erg Chigaga – M’hamid (Departure)
- Morning Ritual: Wake up to catch the stunning desert sunrise, or sleep in until breakfast is served.
- Final Journey: After breakfast, our driver will transfer you back by 4WD to M’hamid village.
- Tour End: You will arrive in M’hamid around 11:00, concluding your extended Morocco desert adventure.
